I am writing to welcome you to Lord Street Primary School. You join a school that has served the children and families of Colne since 1901.
I have been Head here since September 2013 and hope that you are as impressed with the schools ethos as I have been. We were last inspected by Ofsted in July 2014 and the school was judged to be good. This is a testament to the hard work of our staff team who have taken the school from a ‘requires improvement’ grade in February 2013 to ‘good’ in a very short space of time.
We have addressed the points raised in the 2013 report and are now focusing on pushing the achievement of our children to higher levels. We have strong leadership, and so are clear on the need to deliver a constantly improving quality of learning to our children.
The school is, and has been for many years a happy place that helps children to learn the skills they will need to achieve at secondary school and to go on to be successful in adult life.
We work with children with a range of backgrounds and needs but all are seen as equally important in the school and have access to an exciting curriculum which covers English and Mathematics, ICT and the full range of National Curriculum subjects. It includes opportunities for children to take part in out of school activities including sports clubs, outdoor activities and our Wind Band.
Choosing your child’s school is a very important decision and I believe you have made a good choice. We aim to work in partnership with you and will do our very best to make sure we meet your child’s needs in full. We hope that this is your experience of the school but we will always welcome you into school to resolve any concerns you have.
I hope that the information is of use to you and look forward to meeting you in school.
