Welcome to Lord Street Primary School's Music page! Here you will find all the latest information about Music.
Music at Lord Street.
Throughout the curriculum, we aim to inspire, innovate and engage children in music.
We aim to provide high quality music lessons, which inspires all children.
At Lord Street Primary School we want children to aspire to be the musicians of the future through gaining experience of music across a variety of genres
Children will explore their own musical talents using a variety of instruments and prepare their own musical pieces as well as having the opportunity to perform at the end of every unit.
Our children should be able to organise their knowledge, skills and understanding around the following learning hooks:
- To perform
- To compose
- To listen
- To understand music
These key concepts underpin learning in each milestone. This enables pupils to reinforce and build upon prior learning, make connections and develop subject specific language.
Through the explicit teaching of the music skills, both the teachers and the children assess their learning continuously throughout the lesson. At the end of the unit, children will compose and perform a group or solo piece of music.
The musical opportunities at Lord Street are continuingly growing. We have weekly music lessons in school with Jack and class teachers, in March our choir performed in the Sing Together concert at King George's Hall. They were amazing!! We are also working on our Christmas film which is going to be filmed and put onto the school website.
Jack is a musician and actor from Burnley. He has been working at Lord Street since 2017, first starting with a Drama club and now works with the pupils with both Music and Drama. We have worked on song writing, producing, playing different instruments and lots of singing!!
Jack's favourite thing about Lord Street is the amazing pupils and staff who are all super supportive. Jack has been in many musicals and plays and once had the pleasure of singing the National Anthem for the Queen! Also, he plays the piano and organ for The Hiding Magpies and also teaches at various theatre schools in the area.
Miss Baxendale arranged for Year 3 to be apart of the NHS Virtual Christmas Carol Concert. Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed learning Santa Claus is Coming to Town!!
"I love learning to play the ukulele!"
"I felt so proud of myself when I performed in King George's Hall!"
"Music is my favourite time of the week, especially when Jack teaches us!"
