Lord Street Primary School Nursery Consultation

Nursery Consultation – Conclusion and Feedback

Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent consultation regarding the proposal to establish a school-based nursery at The Lord Street Primary School. We appreciate your time and engagement in this process.

    Consultation Overview

Parents, carers, staff, and the wider community were invited to take part in the consultation and engagement period for The Lord Street Primary School Nursery proposal. The proposed provision includes 20 full-time places and 12 part-time places for 3-4 year olds, operating during term time only.

The consultation period ran from Friday 10th January 2025 to Friday 31st January 2025 (12 noon), providing an opportunity for all stakeholders to learn more about the proposal and share their views.

    Responses and Engagement

    • A ‘drop-in’ information session was held at Lord Street Primary School on Friday, 24th January 2025, from 2:45 pm to 3:15 pm. The Headteacher, CEO, CFO, and Head of Business were in attendance; however, no stakeholders were present.
    • Four responses were submitted via our Enquiries mailbox, all of which were positive and supportive of the proposal, with no further questions raised.
    • Three stakeholders provided in-person feedback, expressing their support for the school nursery.
    • One response was received via telephone.

    Key Findings

    • Strong Support for the Nursery – The majority of responses were received via email, with overwhelming support for the proposal.  Respondents highlighted key benefits, continuity in education, familiar surroundings, and access to high-quality early years provision.
    • Community Interest - Three stakeholders approached the school in person to enquire about the nursery’s opening date, emphasising the convenience of having all their children on the same site.
    • Concerns Addressed – One respondent contacted the school via telephone seeking further clarification on the potential impact on existing early years settings. This concern has been carefully considered as part of our planning process.

    Conclusion

Based on the feedback and engagement received, there are no identified reasons why the proposal should not progress. As a result, we will continue working closely with the Local Authority and the Department for Education (DfE) to move forward with the establishment of the nursery.

We appreciate the contributions of all those who took the time to participate. If you have any further questions, please email: enquiries@penninetrust.org
